2024 Josephine Chardonnay Carneros, Napa

$75.00

When it comes to our Josephine Chardonnay, only the very best will do. Named after Napa's first woman vintner, Josephine Tychson, this wine carries her legacy forward — and the 2024 vintage does her proud.

Josephine is grown on a tiny, rocky hillside block of volcanic soils, with stony loam over a hard clay bedrock — farmed biodynamically, treating the vineyard as a holistic ecosystem that enhances soil health and vine vitality. It's a site that brings out the very best of this fascinating varietal.

For 2024, the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, softening the natural acidity into a creamier, more textural expression while allowing the oak to gently frame the fruit. The result captures both the vitality of the land and the artistry of precision winemaking.

In the glass, Josephine reveals a glistening golden hue with brilliant clarity, catching the light with an almost ethereal radiance.

The nose is beautifully floral and lifted — an aromatic bouquet of acacia blossom and orange blossom, layered with wild herbs and delicate citrus oil, with the French oak lending a subtle, integrated warmth beneath the florals.

The palate is full-bodied yet graceful, offering richness without heavy weight. It opens with ripe Bartlett pear and golden apple, generous and polished, before unfolding into the luxurious signature of malolactic fermentation and French oak — creamy crème brûlée, vanilla bean, and white chocolate weave through the mid-palate, lending a decadent, rounded texture.

A supple texture glides across the palate, balanced by refreshing acidity that keeps all that richness lifted and in focus rather than heavy. The finish is smooth, mellow, and uplifting, with a lingering sense of freshness. A subtle saline note adds a compelling, mouthwatering quality, enhancing the wine's minerality and drawing you back for another sip.
